Manado, N. Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - North Sulawesi recorded a surplus of US$47.53 million in its international trade in October, 2018.

"The surplus grew from US$39.74 million in the previous month," the regional office of Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) Dr Ateng Hartono said here on Thursday.

However, year-on-year, the export surplus dropped from US$54.33 million, Dr Ateng said.

He said North Sulawesi exported US$73.01 million worth of goods in October 2018 with imports valued at US$25.48 million.

Coconut oil dominated exports of the province in October, 2018 with value at US$35.08 million or 48.05 percent of its total export earning.

Its imports included electrical and electronic machines and equipment valued at US$12.35 million or 48.45 percent of its import value .

The main countries of destinations for its exports in October 2018 were the Netherland to which exports were valued at US$15.26 million and Japan to which exports were worth US$10.11 million.
