Jakarta, Nov 23 (ANTARA News) - Two of Indonesia`s top designers, Harry Ibrahim and Eko Tjandra Olanye, have managed to impress visitors at the ATF Trade Exhibition 2018, South Africa`s only import sourcing trade exhibition for clothing, footwear and textile industries.

The 2018 ATF visited by 2,500 people is the main event in the African continent which brings suppliers, buyers and service providers together on one roof, according to a statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Pretoria received by Antara here Friday.

In his collection entitled "Puspa Jati" and "Swarna Ning Bhumi", Olanye presented a series of evening gowns made of Bojonegoro batik on Wednesday (November 21), while Ibrahim, an SME craftsmen coach, featured woven fabrics from East Nusa Tenggara on evening gowns.

At the ATF Trade Exhibition, the Indonesian fashion designers showcased their designs in two categories, namely, ready-used clothing (pret a porter) and glamorous (haute couture) evening dresses. The dresses were made from Indonesian-style materials of batik, weaving, embroidery, songket (Malay hand-woven fabric in silk or cotton, patterned with silver or gold threads).

Besides the two designers, Indonesia also showcased batik for men from Apikmen and Taty & Co.

The Indonesian designers also displayed their works at the Indonesian Consul General`s House. Their 10 works amazed consular corps, fashion observers and designers attending the show.

The Indonesian Ambassador to South Africa, Salman Al Farisi, expressed his appreciation over the designers promoting Indonesia in South Africa.

The ambassador added that this event was expected to greatly enhance business agreements between Indonesian and South African garment and footwear entrepreneurs.
