The meeting was attended by two thousand participants, comprising mostly members of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle and other supporting parties, such as Golkar and the National Awakening Party.
Lukman Edy, deputy director in charge of witnesses of the Regional Campaign Team of the Jokowi-Ma`ruf Amin pair, remarked that the regional working meeting is aimed at strengthening solidity among volunteers and legislative candidates supporting Jokowi in the next presidential elections.
The president was on a working visit to Lampung, and his agenda included visits to the Gintung and Smep traditional markets to review the prices of vegetables and other food items.
Indonesia will hold simultaneous presidential and legislative elections on April 17, 2018.
The presidential race will be a repeat of the 2014 elections where Jokowi and retired general Prabowo Subianto are set to go head-to-head.
In the next presidential election, Jokowi`s running mate is Ma`ruf Amin, a prominent ulema (Islamic scholar), while Prabowo Subianto pairs with Sandiaga Uno, a successful young businessman.
