"The Anti-Graft Body (KPK) is very much aware that the social media can be used for virtue to support events, information, and any other efforts related to the prosecution and prevention of corruption," he stated at a Government Digital Media Festival `Transparency for Participation,` which is a part of a series of events commemorating the world Anti-Corruption Day held in Jakarta on Wednesday.
"The KPK run a couple of accounts on Twitter. One is for the KPK as part of the government and the other one is KPK`s own channel. On the first one, I see that there were around 2.6 million followers, and I am sure that all 2.6 million of those people really have their mind on countering corrupt practices in the country. By God`s grace, this can improve our country," he remarked.
Meanwhile, the other Twitter account ran by the KPK is followed by 329 thousand users, and its Facebook account has been followed by 1.3 million people.
"It is quite a big number. I hope that all followers of the KPK`s social media accounts, including Instagram, have the anti-corruption quality within them," he revealed.
He believed that the KPK`s social media platforms still have less followers compared to other government entities, such as the ministries.
"It is probably due to the fact that our social media rarely post contents that are packaged in an entertaining way. We are often more formal and serious in our delivery," he added.
For that reason, the content should perhaps be served in a more relaxed manner, in the effort to reach the millennials, he explained.
The KPK also expected social media accounts from government agencies to also run campaign for anti-corruption matters.
"We also hope that the content on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, or other social media, specifically from government agencies, can also carry out campaigns on anti-corruption matters, "he pointed out.
