Jakarta (ANTARA News) - An earth quake with a magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter Scale rocked North Bengkulu early dawn on Sunday just after midnight.

Based on the record of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics office , the quake hit at 00.45 local time with epicenter in the sea at 3.53 degrees south latitude and 101.54 degrees east longitude.

The epicenter is around 57 kilometers southwest of North Bengkuku in the Indian Ocean at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The agency said the quake has no potential to trigger tsunami.

Bengkulu, which lies on the ring of fire has since early September 2018 , been hit by more than 50 minor earthquakes with magnitudes averaging 3.7 on the Richter Scale.
