Head of BPH Migas Fanshurullah Asa told a press conference here on Tuesday that fuel oil consumption will peak on Dec 22, Dec 31 and Jan 5 2019.
"The consumption for gas oil will peak on Jan 5, 2019 while that of avtur (aircraft fuel) and LPG gas fuel will peak Dec 22, 2018," Fanshurullah who is also intimately called Ifan, noted.
A national command post of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has been formed to ensure stock and distribution of fuels, gas, electricity and to anticipate geological disasters in the face of Christmas and New Year festivities.
State-owned oil firm Pertamina, PT AKR corporindo, state electricity firm PLN, state gas distributors firm PT PGN and PT Pertagas Niaga will be readied to provide fuel oils, gas and electricity.
For the availability of fuel, Pertamina has made anticipatory measures by adding location points to channel the fuels, namely the addition of dispensers, both on toll roads and on road to tourism sites from 9 to 16 points.
In addition, the number of fuel bag locations are also increased from 44 to 54 ; the volume of packaged fuel prepared by Pertamina is also raised from 2.5 kilo liters (KL) to 3.7 KL. Selling bases of LPG gas are also added from 28 thousand to 37 thousand locations.
Ifan added that the National Task Force of the Command Post will coordinate and supervise the distribution of fuel, gas and electricity at Christmas concentration points, such as North Sumatra, North Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Maluku, North Maluku, West Papua and Papua.
As the tourist destination sites, the task force will concentrate on Bukittinggi, Pangkal Pinang, Anyer, Bogor-Peak, Lembang-Bandung, Yogyakarta, Malang, Bali and Bunaken-Manado.
"Every day the ESDM Task Force team will monitor various points throughout Indonesia, especially places where people celebrate Christmas and tourist attractions in Indonesia," Ifan said.
