Jayapura,Papua (ANTARA News) - A major earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 on the Richter Scale rocked the district of Keerom, Papua on Sunday, but no report yet of casualty and damage to property, the Jayapura Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics agency said.

The quake that hit at 18.42 local time has an epicenter at 3.78 degrees south latitude and 140.57 degrees east longitude or 52 kilometers southwest of Keerom at a depth of 106 kilometers.

The tremors were felt for 20-30 seconds in this Papua provincial city, people in this city said.

No other details are available yet from the agency.
