Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Director General of Customs and Excise of the Finance Ministry, Heru Pambudi, believed that Indonesia`s customs and excise receipts this year may exceed the target of Rp194.1 trillion set in the 2018 state budget.

"We predict that the customs and excise receipts will meet the target and may slightly be higher," he stated here on Monday.

As of Dec 14, 2018, customs and excise receipts reached Rp175.9 trillion, accounting for 90.63 percent of the target.

"The customs and excise receipts grew 16.2 percent compared to the same period last year," he noted.

Import duty receipts reached Rp37.19 trillion, or 104.18 percent of the target of Rp35.7 trillion; excise receipts stood at Rp132.29 trillion, or 85.13 percent of the target of Rp155.4 trillion; and export duty was recorded at Rp6.43 trillion, or 214.17 percent of the target of Rp3 trillion.

Excise receipts were mostly contributed by tobacco at Rp126.2 trillion, or 85.14 percent of the target of Rp148.23 trillion; ethyl alcohol at Rp130 billion, or 78.8 percent of the target of Rp170 billion; and beverages containing ethyl alcohol at Rp5.86 trillion, or 90.21 percent of the target of Rp6.5 trillion.

Pambudi revealed that the import duties, excise, and export taxes grew 13.35 percent, 15.2 percent, and 71.9 percent, respectively, compared to the same period last year.

The customs authorities did not collect plastic excise this year due to the absence of a government rule, although it has been projected at Rp500 billion in the state budget.
