Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati reclaimed her earlier position of being the most respected minister in 2018 based on the result of an Indonesian Indicator (I2) research for having received maximum media attention.

"This is quite interesting, since of the 100 most widely reported media, only one percent of the figures are related to the economy. However, in the media spotlight on the government, the economy is the champion," Director of Communications of I2 Rustika Herlambang noted in his written statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Economic problems surfaced this year, so Indrawati is not only a figure but also the central minister, who is the most sought after, and her opinion is awaited by the public.

During 2018, a total of 2,300 online media across Indonesia reported about Indrawati in 48,365 news.

According to Herlambang, various issues related to policies in the fiscal and monetary fields, the calculation of Freeport`s profits, and the IMF-World Bank meeting were among the things that brought the spotlight on Indrawati.

"Within a month, on average, Sri Mulyani (Indrawati) was covered in 3,969 news stories, or around 130 news stories per day," he pointed out.

In 2017, Indrawati was also named by I2 as the most honorable figure. At that time, the number of news on Indrawati reached 35,530.

Airlangga Hartarto was named the second most honorable minister of 2018. The Minister of Industry shot to second position, with 38,167 news. In fact, in 2017, Hartarto`s name did not feature on the top 10 list of the most respected ministers.

Interior Minister Tjahjo Kumolo occupied the third position on the list of 2018 most honorable ministers, with 34,256 news; followed by Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi at fourth position, with 33,705 news; and Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Wiranto at fifth position.

"Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Retno Marsudi, Darmin Nasution, and Lukman Hakim Saifuddin were some of the ministers, who failed to feature in the top 10 most respected ministers last year," Herlambang noted.

Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono claimed the sixth place, with 29,581 news. Last year, Hadimuljono`s name was not included on the list of top 10 most respected ministers.

Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya came seventh this year, with 27,381 news. Yahya earlier stood first as the most honorable minister in 2016 and was thereafter named the 2nd most honorable minister in 2017.

The position of the eighth most honorable minister is occupied by Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi, with 24,598 news; while Maritime Coordinating Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan occupied the ninth position, with 23,844 news.

Finally, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and culture Puan Maharani claimed the 10th position, with 23,482 news.

"Two of the 10 most respected ministers are women, specifically Sri Mulyani and Puan Maharani," Herlambang added.
