Land certificates are the most official, the most convincing to be used as collateral.
Gowa District, South Sulawesi (ANTARA) - Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Minister Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) has said that land certification can bring added economic value, in addition to legal certainty.

"We want to convince residents, apart from having legal certainty, (land certification) also provides added economic value. The certification can be used as a collateral loan to banks," he said while distributing land certificates to people in Gowa district, South Sulawesi, on Saturday.

For example, residents can open a business with capital assistance from banks by using their land certificate as collateral, he said.

"Land certificates are the most official, the most convincing to be used as collateral," he added.

The minister said he hoped that the public would take advantage of land certification.

During his working visit to Gowa, AHY distributed 50 land certificates directly to residents of Romangpolong village, Somba Opu sub-district, Gowa.

Twenty land certificates were distributed door-to-door to residents by AHY.

Meanwhile, 30 other land certificates were handed through the ngariung agenda, or the activity of gathering and talking while sitting in a circle.

On the occasion, AHY asked Gowa residents to fight the land mafia by obtaining land certificates.

"We have to fight the land mafia," he said.

Earlier, AHY noted, the government was targeting to certify 120 million plots of land by the end of 2024. As of Saturday, 111.8 million plots of land have been certified, he informed.

"This means that we still have millions more to complete," he pointed out.

On Friday (April 26, 2024), he also symbolically handed over 300 land certificates at the Southeast Sulawesi Governor's residence.

After South Sulawesi, the minister is scheduled to distribute land certificates in Palu, Central Sulawesi.
