Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairperson of the Democratic Party's upper assembly and the sixth Indonesian president, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), has asked party cadres to help make President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi's) term that ends in eight months a success.

SBY's message was conveyed by his son, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), following his inauguration as the new Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/head of the National Land Agency (BPN) at the State Palace here on Wednesday.

"He (SBY) advised that this can be a good opportunity for the big family of the Democratic Party to succeed President Jokowi's administration in his final term, as well as being an important part of the nation's leadership transition forward nationally," he said.

AHY, who is also chairperson of the Indonesian Democratic Party, informed that SBY, as a senior leader of the Democratic Party, has asked him to work as well as possible in carrying out his mandate as a minister in the Onward Indonesia Cabinet to help President Widodo.

"Mr. SBY, as my parent and a former president, and as a senior of the Democratic Party, expects me to work well, be professional, have work ethic, dedication, and commitment to work as well as possible in this Ministry of ATR/BPN," AHY said.

According to him, SBY understands that government affairs are complex and no one can work alone.

Therefore, SBY has asked his son to establish good communication with leaders in all sectors.

"No one can stand alone. Therefore, he also hopes that I can immediately establish communication, including coordination with any leaders across sectors, across institutions and ministries," AHY said.
