Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Incumbent presidential candidate Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has expressed gratitude to corn farmers who managed to increase their production by up to 3.1 million tons so that Indonesia no longer needs to import the commodity.

"In 2014, we imported 3.5 million tons of corn. In 2018, we only imported 380 thousand tons of corn. This means that our corn production rose by 3.3 million tons. This is a big leap," he said while delivering his vision and mission at the second round of presidential candidate here on Sunday night.

The supply and stable prices of foods must be maintained, he said.

On environmental issues, Jokowi wanted land, forest and peatland fires not to occur anymore.

He claimed that during the past three years of his leadership no land, forest and peatland fires were found in the country.

"We managed to deal with (land fires) thanks to the hard work of all of us," he said.

As his dedication to environmental conservation, he wanted to reduce plastic litter in rivers and at sea.

"I think this is our high dedication to Indonesia Progresses," he said.
