"In the past two years we have distributed land concessions through social forestry program for indigenous peoples, customary rights, farmers, fishermen," Jokowi said during the second round of presidential debate at the Sultan Hotel in Jakarta on Sunday evening.
During the period, he continued, land concessions granted to the people had reached 2.6 million hectares out of the 12.7 million hectares targeted during his administration.
He said that in addition to providing land rights, the government also assist people to create productive land by planting agricultural crops such as coffee and corn.
Jokowi also said that he had distributed 5 million and 7 million of land certificates in 2017 and 2018 respectively to the people, so that they could have the legal rights to their own land.
"They can use these certificates as collateral to apply capital loan from the bank," he noted.
The distribution of land certificates was part of the agrarian reform and to achieve the target of 12.7 million hectares of social forestry.
