Jakarta(ANTARA News) - Some 30 homes in a densely populated area in West Jakarta caught fire apparently after a stove exploded, a firefighter stated on Tuesday.

The fire was believed to have originated from a stove explosion at one of the houses, head of operations of the West Jakarta Fire Department Sjukri stated.

"Somebody was cooking on the floor above (when) the stove exploded," he revealed while quoting the result of the preliminary investigation.

The fire department deployed 29 fire trucks, with some 150 personnel, to extinguish the blaze.

He said the fire could be put out, and the situation in the scene could be brought under control.

No injuries or fatalities were reported.
