The displaced people are taking refuge at 23 locations, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman of the Natural Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), noted in a statement here on Monday.
In Bantul District, 26 villages in 10 sub-districts were flooded, while nine villages in four sub-districts were hit by landslides.
In Kulon Progo, flooding occurred in the sub-districts of Wates, Sentolo, and Temon, while landslides affected the sub-districts of Kokap and Girimulyo.
"Some 580 people are taking refuge at six emergency posts," he remarked.
The number of people displaced by the natural disasters might increase, as evacuation operations were still ongoing in Bendungan Village, Wates Sub-district.
In Gunung Kidul, sub-districts affected by the hydrometeorological disasters were Wonosari, Purwosari, Semanu, Panggang, Tepus, Playen, Tanjungsari, Gedangsari, Karangmojo, and Patuk.
In Sleman District and Yogyakarta City, several trees fell due to whirlwind.
The National Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency has forecast that rains, with moderate to high precipitation, will continue to fall in several sub-districts in Yogyakarta until March 20, 2019.
The sub-districts are Girimulyo, Nanggulan, Samigaluh, and Kalibawang in Kulon Progo; Turi, Pakem, Cangkringan, Tempel, Sleman, Ngaglik, Ngemplak, Minggir, Seyegan, Godean, Mlati, Gamping, Depok, Kalasan, Berbah, and Prambanan in Sleman; Sedayu, Kasihan, Sewon, Pajangan, Bantul, Pleret, Piyungan, Jetis, Imogiri, and Dlingo in Bantul and Yogyakarta City; as well as Gedangsari, Ngawen, Nglipar, Patuk, Paliyan, Wonosari, Karangmojo, Semin, and Ponjong in Gunung Kidul.
