P. Marsudi has expressed condolences to the victims of a Utrecht tram shooting attack in the Netherlands on Monday.
Marsudi offered condolences during a communication with Dutch Foreign Minister Stef Blok, according to a tweet by the minister on Monday evening. "Just communicated with Foreign Minister Stef Blok of the Netherlands and conveyed deepest condolences and sympathies on the shooting that took place in Utrecht earlier today (Mar 18)," Marsudi tweeted.
The minister condemned the violence and believed that the Dutch government would arrest and prosecute the perpetrator.
"Let us unite in the efforts to spread tolerant values, respect, and bring peace to human beings," she tweeted.
Meanwhile, a suspect was taken into custody in the Netherlands after opening fire on a tram in the central Dutch city of Utrecht, resulting in three people being killed and wounding five, Rob van Bree, the city's police chief, was quoted as saying by Al Jazeera.
The Dutch authorities have raised the threat level to the highest after the shooting. It was reduced once the hours-long manhunt came to an end.
The Utrecht police had earlier published a photo of the suspect, identifying him as 37-year-old Gokman Tanis, who was born in Turkey.
The shooter's motive was unclear. The police said they could not rule out "terrorism," but the Turkish news agency Anadolu reported that the suspect's relatives believe he shot at someone close to the family due to "family issues."
