Not only does a woman maintain the importance of her fashion look but also preserves our beautiful culturesMakassar (ANTARA) - The International Woman Female on the Move Exhibition (FEMME) and Celebes Beauty Fashion Week (CBFW) 2019, held in Makassar, South Sulawesi, is tapping into Indonesia's cultural abundance, especially its local wisdom incorporated into fashion work.
Chairperson of South Sulawesi's National Craft Council (Dekranasda) Liestiaty F. Nurdin praised the event at the opening of the 14th FEMME and CBFW held on April 3-7, 2019.
"We should applaud this event, as it broadens our horizons on the current fashion models," Nurdin emphasized.
Meanwhile, FEMME Chairwomen Icha A. Z. Lili noted that FEMME 2019 was held in line with the theme of culture driven by the aspiration to delve into Indonesia's cultural heritage for the future generations.
"A woman is not only fashion-forward but also manages to uphold our beautiful cultures," Lili reiterated in her speech.
FEMME 2019 also aims to highlight Indonesia's rich cultural heritage in the hopes of developing a greater sense of love and pride among people, especially the millennial generation, for the nation's cultural wealth.
The organizer of FEMME and CBFW 2019, 3Pro, have forged collaboration with #berbudayaitukeren, or promoting cultures is cool, to offer a pavilion for the millennials.
With an estimated 50 thousand footfalls, FEMME and CBFW 2019 are displaying the works of fashion of 50 eminent Indonesian designers to foreign countries at 300 fashion booths and is presenting a fashion show showcasing professional models.
A total of 20 culinary booths will also enliven the event.
FEMME is organized with the objective of driving development of the local and national creative industries and crafts in the fashion and other sectors.
"The event is expected to offer wide-ranging benefits to the Indonesian economy, especially for the fashion industry," Lili remarked.
