Jakarta (ANTARA) - The General Elections Commission (KPU) has rubbished allegations accusing it of manipulating the ballot counting process through an overseas computer server. "There is no KPU server overseas. All of them are within the country. Hence, the allegation that the KPU will count votes through the IT system is not true," Hasyim Asy'ari, a KPU commissioner, said in a text message here on Thursday.

The counting process will be done manually at the respective poling stations and the results recorded in C1 Forms, which will then be collected and counted at the sub-district, district, province, and finally at the national levels.

"So basically, the results of the ballot counting are already known to the public, witnesses, polling station supervisors, local residents, and observers. And everyone is allowed to document the results in C1-Plano forms," he said.

Referring to a viral video accusing KPU of using IT to manipulate the ballot counting results, he said, "KPU is aggrieved by the baseless accusations in the video and will report it to the Police Crime Investigation Department (Bareskrim) of the National Police Headquarters."

Indonesia will hold simultaneous legislative and presidential elections on April 17, 2019.
