Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia, the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) member, is believed to be present at the federation's general assembly in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on April 8, 2019, a Saudi Arabian government official revealed.

"Indonesia, as the ISSF member, is expected to be among the attendees at the general session of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation during which the federation's new chairman is expected to be elected," President of Saudi Arabia's Islamic Communication Center, Faheem H. Alhamid, informed Antara from Saudi Arabia on Friday.

Alhamid remarked that Indonesia's mass media, particularly Indonesian news agency Antara, are set to be instrumental in ensuring the success of the ISSF general assembly by contributing through publications across varied platforms, including social media.

According to a report by SPA, the news agency of Saudi Arabia, from Riyadh on Thursday (Apr 4), the ISSF will organize a meeting on Monday (Apr 8) in Jeddah for voting for the federation's new chairman as a replacement toTurki Al-Sheikh after he announced his resignation from the post.

The new ISSF chairman for the 2019-2021 period will be named.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary General Yousef AlOThaimeen will attend the meeting to cover discussions on the fifth version of the Islamic Solidarity Games 2021 and reports on administration, technical, and financial matters from the General Secretariat of the Federation.

In addition, the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation will organize two of its board meetings. EDITED BY INE
