Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Hyundai Mobil Indonesia will launch a new compact sport utility vehicle (SUV), Hyundai Kona, at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2019 scheduled at Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran, Jakarta, on Apr 25-May 5.

“The launch aims to cater to the demand of the Indonesian market to have access to the most up-to-date technology, features, and comfort, all combined into a vehicle,” Head Deputy of Marketing of PT Hyundai Mobil Indonesia Hendrik Wiradjaja stated here on Monday.

However, Wiradjaja had yet to divulge details on what the new Hyundai Kona will be priced at. He believes that Kona will not have any real rival from vehicle models of other brands, such as Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3, and Mitsubishi Outlander Sport.

Wiradjaja made assurance on competitive pricing of the car as compared to other similar types in the Indonesian compact SUV market.

“The price will be made public at IIMS. Undoubtedly, Kona will be launched at a competitive pricing, taking into account other competitors in its segment,” Wiradjaja explained.

Among key deciding factors behind Hyundai Indonesia choosing to launch Kona were to align itself with the rising middle class in need of SUV along with the Indonesian SUV market that has shown national and international growth.

“Hyundai Indonesia, along with Hyundai Global, have on offer SUV products suited for Asia, especially Indonesia,” he remarked, pointing to strong SUV growth in Indonesia.

Hyundai Indonesia is positive of Kona being well-received by Indonesian consumers since it has won several prestigious global awards, such as the IF Design Award, Red Dot Design Award 2018, and Crossover of The Year 2019 from Texas Motor Press.

Wiradjaja noted that the new Hyundai Kona will be entirely imported from South Korea.
