"Me and professor KH Ma'ruf Amin agree to dedicate ourselves to improving the Indonesians' welfare. We guarantee that in the coming five years, God willing, our nation's economy will become stronger," Jokowi stated at the Bung Karno Stadium (GBK), Jakarta, Saturday.
Jokowi made the statement while addressing a crowd of supporters largely spotted in white clothing and thronging the GBK since morning.
"Major tasks lie ahead of us, since we are faced with challenges, but to improve a nation as big as Indonesia to boost the people's welfare calls for a broader understanding of the needs of the people," Jokowi added.
Hence, Jokowi pointed out that during his term from 2014 to 2019, he had undertaken numerous visits to villages.
"This is the reason behind me making frequent visits to the villages and regions, as I would like to examine and directly oversee the on-field implementation of programs. Do not allow approved programs to be stuck mid-way," Jokowi added.
The head of state further elaborated on certain aspects of financial planning during his administration.
"In terms of the figures we already have, we know our numbers are already in single digits that was earlier in double digits. Hence, we should be thankful. Such figures change from 5.9 to 5.3 percent, and we should also be appreciative right? " Jokowi pointed out.
Jokowi believes all these aspects play a role in the face of a tough and weakening global economy that continues to experience a downward spiral.
"We know that our nation can sustain with an over five percent economic growth, so we do not give thanks to Allah SWT, do not let us kufr deliciously right?" Jokowi added.
The president is also keen to improve the welfare of Indonesians engaged in different spheres of work.
"For farmers; teachers; laborers; doctors; civil servants; military; police; creative workers; small-, medium-, and large-scale entrepreneurs, inclusive of youngsters, mothers, and gentlemen, we must strive to lead healthier lives. We aspire to do this in the coming five years," Jokowi affirmed.
He envisions eradicating poverty in Indonesia.
"We are committed to helping people break free from the shackles of poverty. We all agree that we must forge ahead?" Jokowi remarked.
