"The pair emerging victorious in the recent parliamentary and presidential elections would have been known following the announcement of the vote recapitulation on May 22. Hence, all contesting parties are requested to avoid taking actions that go against the corridor of the Constitution, he remarked here, Friday.
Various pollsters have made public the electability standing of the two presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs, but the quick count results can either be accepted or rejected, and they were not legally binding, he explained.
The results of a quick count and exit poll internally conducted by a particular party were also viewed as being "unofficial," Mahfud MD, also a professor at the Islamic University of Indonesia's (UII) Law Faculty, remarked.
Hence, he has appealed to all parties to continue to monitor the voting process till the KPU's official announcement of the final results of the recent general elections on May 22.
Nusa Cendana University Communications Professor Alo Liliweri had earlier advised caution over the Joko Widodo (Jokowi)-Ma'ruf Amin and Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno camps declaring election win, Wednesday, that can potentially trigger chaos in society.
"Hence, responding prudently to these victory claims is of paramount importance," Liliweri emphasized during a conversation with ANTARA in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara Province.
Several community members might have trusted the credibility of results of pollsters vouching that the Jokowi-Amin pair's electability outshone that of the Subianto-Uno pair and of an exit poll and survey conducted by the Prabowo-Sandi camp.
The professor has warned of a likely mayhem arising, as the public is impelled by its perception on their beliefs.
Both presidential rivals currently wait with bated breath for the official results of real count by the KPU that will be legally binding.
