"A decision has been reached to hand out the Eid bonus on May 24," he noted after a meeting held at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday to discuss preparations for Eid al-Fitr 2019 as well as steps to maintain the prices of staple foods, mass transportation and related infrastructure for home-bound travel, as well as security arrangements.
Syafruddin remarked that the finance ministry will hand out the nominal bonus.
President Joko Widodo, officiating the meeting, gave instructions to state-owned oil and gas enterprise PT Pertamina to ensure the supply of petrol along the routes for home-bound travel.
Indonesia, the most populous Muslim nation, has been making the necessary preparations to usher in the holy month of Ramadan that will probably begin on May 5 and then celebrate Eid al-Fitr to mark the conclusion of the fasting month on June 5.
