They all have been handed over to Densus
Garut, W Java (ANTARA) -
Five suspected terrorists, who were arrested at Malangbong Street in Garut District, West Java Province, on Sunday (May 19) have been handed over to the National Police's Counterterrorism Squad Densus 88 for further questioning, police said.

"They all have been handed over to Densus," Chief of the Garut Police Resort Adjunct Senior Commissioner Budi Satria Wiguna said on Saturday.

The Garut Police assisted Densus 88 in arresting the five suspected terrorists during a raid at Malangbong Street, he said.

The suspects were arrested while traveling in a car as they were on their way to Jakarta to participate in the May 22 rally prior to the announcement of the presidential election results by the General Election Commission (KPU), he said.

"It is not the duty of the Garut Police Resort to handle suspected terrorists. We only assisted (Densus)," he said.

Earlier, the Garut Police deployed its personnel to maintain peace and security prior to the announcement of the presidential election results.

The police apprehended a car carrying the five suspected terrorists from neighboring Tasikmalaya district after receiving information. They were supposed to travel to Jakarta to take part in the May 22 rally.

He noted that Garut contributed to the security following the announcement of the presidential election results.

"The situation in Garut is safe and controllable," he said.
