Malaysia deported 21 Indonesian migrant workers through Nunukan District, North Kalimantan Province, due to drug cases on Friday (May 24).
They were sent back to Indonesia, along with hundreds of Indonesian migrant workers, after serving jail terms in Malaysia, acting chief of the Indonesian Migrant Workers Placement, Protection and Monitoring Agency (BP3TKI) in Nunukan, Arbain, said on Saturday.
All Indonesian migrant workers deported from Malaysia for violating immigration documents and for drug abuse have been housed in rented apartments at Ujang Dewa Street in South Nunukan for a few days
During their stay at the apartments, the migrant workers involved in drug cases were briefed on the understanding and knowledge of state defense principles and information on how to become legal migrant workers.
Arbain said that the migrant workers involved in the drug cases admitted that they were only users, so their sentences will not be too harsh. The BP3TKI Office in Nunukan has treated them same as other illegal migrant workers.
The 21 Indonesian migrant workers involved in drug abuse were sent back to Indonesia, along with 139 other illegal migrant workers on Friday.
