Lebak, Banten (ANTARA) - Floods, triggered by continual torrential rains, flooded the sub-districts of Sobang and Leuwidamar in Lebak District, Banten Province.

The downpour continued on Friday morning and will likely further worsen the flooding, Bernardi, an officer of the Lebak disaster mitigation office, remarked here on Friday.

In Sobang, flooding hit the villages of Ciparasi and Sukajaya, while three villages of Lebak Pariang,Leuwidamar, and Wantisari in Leuwidamar were inundated, he remarked.

"We have ordered local volunteers to assist in evacuating the flood victims," he noted.

Several rivers overflowed their banks due to incessant heavy rains, he pointed out.

Floodwaters, reaching up to a meter in height, will likely rise further owing to continued rainfall.
