Police extended the period for one-way traffic on the Cikopo-Palimanan section of the Trans Java toll road until Monday morning, due to anticipated congestion.
"We again put in place one-way traffic from kilometer 129 of the Cipali section as of 06.00 a.m. local time," Chief of the Traffic Unit of the Indramayu Police Resort Adjunct Commissioner Asep Nugraha said on Monday morning.
The one-way traffic started at kilometer 70 and continues to kilometer 414 in Kalikangkung, Semarang, Central Java.
Traffic in the Cipali section, particularly under the jurisdiction of the Indramayu police resort, was busy, but it ran smoothly as of dawn on Monday (June 3, 2019), Police Commissioner Nugraha said.
"The traffic moved as usual, although it was slightly obstructed, particularly when cars entered the rest areas," he said.
The one-way traffic period, which was originally planned to end on June 2, 2019, will be extended if the number of cars travelling on the toll road is still high, he said.
Head of the Traffic Corps of the National Police Inspector General Refdi Andri said earlier that the one-way traffic period would be in effect from May 30 to June 2 , 2019.
"Admittedly, we originally planned to apply the one-way traffic system on May 30, May 31, June 1 and June 2, 2019, but this does not mean that it will not be subject to change," he said.
