Let us open our hearts to offer forgiveness as widely as possible. Let us open our heart and mind and desist from retaliation, hate, and hostility, among other wrong deeds.Sorong, W Papua (ANTARA) - Several thousand Muslims performed Eid-al-Fitr prayers at the Teminabuan Airport in Sorong City in West Papua Province on Wednesday.
Several officials comprising South Sorong District Head Samsudin Anggiluli, Chief of the South Sorong Police Resort Adjunct Chief Commissioner Hans Rahmatuloh Irawan, and Assistant III to the South Sorong District Secretary HM Aris participated in performing prayers.
During his Eid-al-Fitr sermon, Dardi Maarif urged the congregation to deepen their belief and devoutness to The Beneficent and The Merciful by performing what Allah SWT orders and refraining from what Allah SWT bans.
"Let us open up our hearts to offer forgiveness as widely as possible. Let us open our heart and mind and desist from retaliation, hate, and hostility, among other wrong deeds," he emphasized.
Chief of the South Sorong Committee for Islamic Holidays Karim Kaliki remarked that the Eid-al-Fitr prayers in the district were held at seven different locations, including Teminabuan, Kampung Bumi Ajo, Kampung Hasik Jaya of Moswaren Sub-district, Inanwatan Sub-district, and Kokoda Sub-district.
Offering the Eid prayers marks victory for Muslims after a month-long fast. In spite of the democratic upheaval following the elections on April 27, 2019, everything ran as expected by the South Sorong district government.
Anggiluli urged Muslims in South Sorong to maintain unity and brotherhood with other fellow Muslims, followers of different faiths, and people of other groups in the district.
Through the Eid-al-Fitr celebration, the local people would hopefully forgive, show respect to one another, and maintain tolerance with adherents of other faiths, he added.
