Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Belitong International Geomaritime Festival, to be held on June 28-30, 2019, on Belitung Island, Bangka Belitung Province, is targeting to attract five to six thousand visitors constituting domestic and foreign tourists.

"The excellence of this festival is that the show is presented or watched from aboard fishing boats while enjoying sunset views," Chairperson of the Belitong International Geomaritime Festival Linda Samosir stated during an interview by ANTARA here on Monday.

The event, to be held at the pier of Gusong Bugis Beach on Belitung Island, will feature music, dance, and traditional literacy performances in Belitung.

He remarked that the Belitong International Geomaritime Festival was held to boost tourism in Belitung by bringing as many domestic and foreign tourists as possible.

During this time, he drew attention to the scenic sunset in Belitung, in tones of golden, so is the opportune time to showcase cultural performances or attractions in the backdrop of peak innate beauty.

"Belitung has huge potential to develop tourism, culture, and nature," he stated.

By holding varied festivals or attractions and spectacular performances in Belitung, he believes the area will offer much more to tourists to visit.

To realize this goal, all parties in Belitung -- government, tourism actors, community elements, and the mass media -- should cooperate, so that this festival can resonate in the hearts and minds of people from across the world, Samosir stated.
