Jambi (ANTARA) - The Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force (SKK Migas) and Cooperation Contract (KKKS) had organized upstream oil and gas discussions to underscore the role of Revenue Sharing Funds (DBH) in supporting regional development.

"This discussion forum is projected to be a forum for disseminating advice and gathering inputs for stakeholders in the Southern Sumatra region (Sumbagsel), especially Jambi," SKK Migas Sumbagsel Head of Representative, Adiyanto Agus Handoyo, stated in Jambi on Friday.

The upstream oil and gas discussions, held on Thursday, were attended by representatives of the Jambi provincial, district, and city governments whose areas became oil and gas producers in Jambi.

The discussion, held on Thursday, presented eminent people: West Tanjungjabung District Head Safrial, Deputy Regional Autonomy of Domestic Education Institutions of the Ministry of Home Affairs Dr Halilul Khairi, Head of Sub-Directorate of State Revenue and Management of Oil and Gas Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) Heru Windarto, and a Representative from the SKK Migas Formalities Division Rudy Hartono.

According to Law Number 33 of 2004 on financial balance between the central and regional governments, this discussion is expected to offer an overview to all stakeholders on the flow of state revenues from the upstream oil and gas sector.

Handoyo remarked that the upstream oil and gas discussion program held in Jambi Province was an informative and edifying activity.

"All oil and gas producing regions have their own developmental breakthroughs, as we discussed at the discussion forum today, packaged in the format of dialog from the legislative and executive parties and involving oil and gas stakeholders in Jambi Province. This activity is indeed expected to provide an explanation to the public in the scope of the role of the Oil and Gas DBH," Handoyo noted.

Not only delving into the role of DBH Migas, but this discussion also deliberated on the multiplier effect on the economy. The multiplier effect implies a manifold impact of the upstream oil and gas sector. Handoyo believes this was caused by the upstream oil and gas sector playing a strategic role in supporting the national economic movement.

Handoyo remarked that DBH Migas' support for varied aspects of regional development, channeled by the central government through the regional government, is expected to be used in accordance with the common goal of boosting the welfare of communities around the upstream oil and gas operating area.

"Discussion activities conducted by SKK Migas and KKKS are also expected to establish sound relations and communication and provide education required by stakeholders, especially in Jambi Province," he stated.
