Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission X, Hetifah Sjaifudian, asked the government to be more careful while implementing the zoning system in New Student Admissions (PPDB).

During a discussion on the Forum Merdeka Barat 9 in Jakarta on Monday, Hetifah said that the PPDB zoning system was ideal, but the system could not be implemented as a whole because the distribution and quality of schools was not even in all regions.

"Considering the situation in several regions, the equal distribution of quality and availability of teachers is still a blank spot," Hetifah said.

He said the Ministry of Education and Culture should see the data and information to measure regional readiness before implementing a zoning system.

"It is not straightforward, so it is rather rushed. In fact, based on the data, there is an area where the zoning system cannot be implemented," he said.

He also reminded the Ministry of Education and Culture to be wary of irregularities in the implementation of the PPDB zoning system, given that there were parents who in various ways tried to push children into schools that were considered favorites, including by making new family cards to be included in the targeted school zoning.

"For more evaluations, honest parents are harmed. This is how, if sanctions are given, they must be strict," he said.

The Golkar politician also stressed the importance of socialization in the implementation of the education zoning system in the region.
