Meanwhile, one public kitchen was set up at the West Jakarta Mayor’s office to provide nearly 2.200 lunch boxes every day.
Some 50 members from the disaster mitigation and emergency response unit (Tagana) have been sent to construct an emergency tent, public kitchen, and allocate the assistance.
The social affairs ministry also has provided psychosocial assistance to refugees especially children, through the Social Workers Unit.
Assistance should be provided so that the presence of refugees does not create any social problems in society, Social Affairs Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita had said earlier.
Indonesia has provided humanitarian assistance to asylum seekers from Afghanistan and other countries, Edi Suharto, Director General of Social Rehabilitation at the Ministry of Social Affairs, said.
"We will take care of them, and our focus is especially on their children. We provide services based on the regulations," Suharto remarked.
