Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian men's doubles pair Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan advanced to the quarter-final stage of the 2019 Indonesia Open tournament after beating German pair Mark Lamsfuss and Marvin Seidel in Jakarta on Thursday.

The fourth-seed pair from Indonesia took 30 minutes to trounce the opponents in two games, 21-16 21-17.

Despite lagging behind at the start of the game, the Ahsan-Hendra pair was able to catch up to turn ahead 11-4 at interval owing to the German pair faltering and committing several mistakes.

The Indonesian pair lost several valuable points after making miscalculations and throwing dead balls before closing the first game, with a five-point lead.

In the second game, Germany attempted to use the top balls to win points, though it is not uncommon to get caught up in the game to find dead balls in front of the net.

Ahsan and Hendra, after winning the interval in the second game, controlled the game and capitalized on several German double faults to close the second game, 21-17.

In the quarter-finals, they will meet the winner of the match between Indonesian pair Wahyu Nayaka Arya Pangkaryanira/Ade Yusuf Santoso and Japanese fifth-seed pair Hiroyuki Endo/Yuta Watanabe.
