Tabanan, Bali (ANTARA) - The Tabanan District Police in Bali Province arrested three Iranian citizens for allegedly hypnotizing local shopkeepers and stealing Rp8,365 thousand (US$596.74) from the store's deposit box.

The police's criminal investigation department chief, AKP I Made Prama, noted here on Monday evening that the foreigners identified as Reza Ghanaati Pour (26), Seyed Ali Mirsshhez (49), and Reza Hussain (25) had operated a scam at a local grocery UD Sari Nadi in Tabanan District on July 28.

Made Putri Artyani, the victim, informed the police that the Iranian citizens had acted as buyers before hypnotizing her and left the store with a car registered in Surabaya, East Java Province.

Before the victim became unconscious, she said that the criminals entered the store to purchase some garlic and red onion.

During the transaction, instead of giving the cash to the shopkeeper, one of the criminals flicked the money in front of the victim's face.

After that incident, the victim fell into an unconscious state for hours. Later on, she recalled that a local carrot supplier, who had come to the store, woke her up.

Following the incident, she reported the robbery to the store's owner and the police.

A day after the robbery, the police arrested the Iranian citizens with the help of the store's CCTV's records.
