Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's football team took the third rank in the 2019 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Under-15 Championship in Thailand, Friday, after beating Vietnam 3-2 in a penalty shootout. The first goal was scored by Resa Aditya, and this was followed by kicks from other strikers Wahyu Agung and Ahmad Atthalah Araihan.

However, Vietnam's goalkeeper Nguyen Quang Truong managed to foil penalty kicks from Indonesia's two players, defender Alfin Lestaluhu and the national team captain Marcell Januar Putra.

During the match that was broadcast on the national TV channel Friday, Indonesian goalkeeper I Made Putra Kaicen was voted Man of the Match during the shootout as he managed to push away three penalty kicks from Vietnam.

However, despite the victory, Indonesia failed to retain the 2018 AFF trophy.

But supporters still lauded the team as in the process it had ranked first in the Group A without a single defeat during the elimination round.

Nonetheless, Indonesia failed to make it to the final as the team lost 3-2 to Thailand in the semi-final.
