Sapta Kunta Purnama, the Indonesian para badminton team’s manager, was unequivocal in expressing his contentment during the medal award ceremony held at Jakobshalle, Basel, on Sunday.
"So far, it has met our expectations. Winning four gold, three silver, and four bronze medals are in accordance with our target," he affirmed.
The four gold medal winners were Deva Anrimusthi in the men's singles SU5, Leani Ratri Oktila in the women's singles SL4, Hari S/Leani Ratri in the mixed doubles SL3-4SU5, and Deva A/Hafiz B in the men's doubles SU5.
Silver medal clinchers were Suryo N in the men's singles SU5 and Leani R/Khalimatus in the men's doubles SL3-4-SU5.
Bronze medal winners constituted Fredy S in the men's singles SL4, Khalimatus in the men's singles SL4, Ukun R in the men's singles SL3, and Ukun R/Hari S in the men's doubles SL3-4.
Indonesian badminton athletes participated in Basel in preparation for the Tokyo Paralympic 2020.
According to his observation, China has, until now, been the dominant team.
From Basel, Indonesia's para badminton team will compete in the China Open to be held in Beijing and the Japan Open in Tokyo.
This is the foremost occasion when the 12th TOTAL BWF Para-Badminton World Championships was held concurrently with the TOTAL BWF World Championships at the same venue since the inaugural event in 1998.
Over 300 athletes from 49 nations competed in the championship.
