Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Friends of Creative Economy (FCE) meeting held by the Creative Economic Agency (Bekraf) in collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs discussed the follow-up implementation of the Bali Agenda for Creative Economy, or the Bali Agenda, which is the result of the 2018 World Conference on Creative Economy organized in Nusa Dua, Bali, from 6 to 8 November 2018.

"We invite all countries to collaborate with Indonesia in promoting the creative economy through the World Conference on Creative Economy," said Bekraf Deputy Chief, Ricky Josph Pesik, at the opening of the FCE meeting, as quoted in a press release obtained here on Tuesday.

The Bali Agenda contains 21 roadmaps for countries to advance their creative economy and mainstream the issue of a creative economy at the international level.

The FCE meeting held in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Monday and Tuesday, September 2 and 3, focused on policy direction, inventory of ideas, problem-solving, and strategies for the global creative economy development. The meeting was attended by 200 delegates from 37 countries and international organizations.

The FCE is a multi-stakeholder forum that involves academicians, business actors, the government, communities, and the media (pentahelix) from various countries.

The annual event discusses various issues and developments of the creative economy sector that aim to encourage international collaboration in a more inclusive creative economy.

In accordance with the objectives of the World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE), Vice Foreign Minister, A.M. Fachir, conveyed the requirement to enhance awareness about the creative economy at the international level.

"The government has played an important role in mainstreaming the issue at international forums, such as by collaborating with several relevant UN agencies, and pursuing to submit the draft resolutions on the creative economy at the UN forums," he stated.

During the two-day event, a number of topics were discussed, including the Collaboration and Collective Behaviors of the FCE; Enabling Ecosystem Development; and Celebration, Promotion, and Enablement of the SDGs, Cultural Heritage, and Diversity.

The 2019 FCE results provide a guideline for the substance of the 2020 WCCE, which will be held in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

The 2019 FCE included representatives from the UN agencies, the United Nations Development Program, and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development. Additionally, the private sector in the creative industries such as Tokopedia, Traveloka, and Shopee also participated.

The creative economy sector has garnered serious attention from the Indonesian government and it currently employs 16 million Indonesian workers and contributes 7.57 percent of Indonesia's GDP in 2018.

The World Conference on Creative Economy is a world-class creative economy conference initiated and organized by Indonesia.

The 2018 WCCE has attracted worldwide attention, as seen from the various countries volunteering to host the 2020 WCCE. The next conference will be held in Dubai.
