"Creative economy is becoming increasingly important by making people as subjects and not objects," Nasution remarked at the National Library here, Monday.
To empower human resources by honing creativity, the government has developed a pilot project vocation program with nine local administrations. The government had also updated the curriculum to align with the industry requirements and current conditions.
In addition to human resources, Nasution highlighted ecosystem as being the second most crucial factor in developing the creative economy. Related news: Jokowi outlines five priority programs for 2019-2024 period
"This ecosystem is somewhat different based on which kind of creative economy is closer to which industry," he noted.
The art of creativity and industry cannot stand alone. Ecosystems are needed to market creative products, he remarked, highlighting the need for inter-agency cooperation to develop the creative economy.
"What is certain is a creative endeavor is combined cooperation from several ministries and also the community," Nasution stated.
To encourage development of the creative economy, at the end of 2018, Presidential Regulation Number 142 of 2018 was stipulated on the 2018-2025 National Creative Economy Development Master Plan.
The Presidential Regulation was established to serve as a foundation for developing a creative economy in Indonesia.
In the meantime, Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf) Triawan Munaf remarked that the creative economy had contributed Rp1,000 trillion to the gross national product in 2017, with this figure rising to Rp1,100 trillion in 2018. The number is forecast to increase 9.6 percent, Rp1,211 trillion, in 2019 than the previous year.
According to Bekraf's data, the contribution of creative economy exports had reportedly reached US$19.3 billion in 2015, growing to $19.99 billion in 2016, $21.5 billion in 2017, and $22.6 billion in 2018, based on the estimate that one US dollar is equivalent to around Rp14,000.
