Singaraja, Bali (ANTARA) -
The twin lakes of Buyan and Tambingan will be developed into an eco-tourism destination, according to Buleleng District Head Putu Agus Suradnyana in Singaraja, Bali Province.

"So far, the forest areas in Dasong, Buyan, have not been benefited optimally, and the quality of its forest and function have deteriorated. Hence, we plan to improve the quality of the forest environment," Suradnyana said in a statement here on Saturday.

The ecotourism development to be implemented, in cooperation with the Bali Natural Resources Conservation Office (BKSDA) and local inhabitants living by the lakes, is a breakthrough for the conservation and promotion of the twin lakes, the district head noted.

The district administration will build a camping ground, jogging tracks and use electric vehicles in the ecotourism destinations.

"The ecotourism is expected to help improve the public welfare," he said.

Also, the local people will be encouraged to preserve the environment and protect the forest, he added.

"Flower gardens will be created along the roads in order to attract tourists," he noted.

Budhy Kurniawan, head of the Bali BKSDA, lauded the plan to develop ecotourism in Buleleng. He also expressed his readiness to support and assist the project, particularly regarding its environmental aspects.
