Southern Nias (ANTARA) - Nias Pro International Surfing Sail, part of Sail Nias 2019, will include 126 surfers from 15 countries, as confirmed on Saturday by the Head of Department of Culture, Tourism, and Youth of Southern Nias, Anggraeni Dachi.

There will be 102 male and 24 female surfers from the US, Australia, Portugal, Japan, Venezuela, France, South Africa, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Spain, New Zealand, Peru, and the host Indonesia.

The participants will be divided into two categories, which are Men’s Qualifying Series (QS) 3000 and Women’s Qualifying Series (QS) 1000.

This event, Dachi stated, will also affirm Southern Nias as one of the world’s important marine tourist destinations, and she pinned future hopes on foreign tourists to increase the local economy.

“Southern Nias was already well-known as a surfing spot by foreigners, and later they will pay more attention to this place, as a result of the international event held here,” Dachi remarked.
