"This afternoon, I will lead the funeral procession (of BJ Habibie) at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery," Jokowi remarked
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) announced that the state will pay great respect to late former president BJ Habibie in acknowledgement of his lifelong dedication to the nation.

"This afternoon, I will lead the funeral procession (of BJ Habibie) at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery," Jokowi remarked while paying his last tributes to BJ Habibie laid in state at his residence on Patra Kuningan Street, South Jakarta, on Thursday

Jokowi further called on the Indonesian nation to pray for BJ Habibie.

"May God rest his soul in peace," he stated.

Several high-ranking state officials and social figures comprising House of Representatives (DPR) Chairman Bambang Prasetyo, Jakarta Governor Anies Bawesdan, former Jakarta governor Basuki Tahaja Purnama (Ahok), and Mahfud MD also paid their last tributes to BJ Habibie at his residence on Thursday.

BJ Habibie, Indonesia's third president, passed away at the age of 83 on Wednesday evening at Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital (RSPAD) where he was undergoing treatment for heart failure since September 8. Related news: House Speaker recalls Habibie as great statesman of Indonesia
