Tulungagung, E Java (ANTARA) - The Tulungagung district court in East Java province has sentenced a housewife to six years in prison and fined her Rp1 billion for trafficking in 17.58 grams of crystal meth. The 35-year old woman said she had considered the verdict and will use seven days as per the criminal code to decide whether to appeal to the higher court or accept the verdict.

"She said yesterday she will take it into account. But she still has seven days to appeal," spokesman for the Tuliungagung district court Yuri Adriansyah said Friday.

The court also fined the convict, identified by her initials as NL, Rp1 billion or face another six months in jail.

The sentence is lighter than what the public prosecutors had sought. They had demanded an eight-year sentence and a fine of Rp1 billion.

NL was pregnant when the police arrested her on drug charges. The baby is now two months old.

Incidentally, her husband is also serving a jail term in a drug case. (INE)
