Samarinda., E Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Special Committee for the Relocation of the Capital City (IKN) departed Jakarta for East Kalimantan Province to meet with the East Kalimantan governor and Penajam Paser Utara and Kutai Kartanegara district heads.

"We have several things to discuss with the governor and district heads, especially those related to preparations for relocation of the capital city," member of the committee Hetifah Sjaifudian, concurrently member of the House of Representatives (DPR) from the East Kalimantan constituency, remarked in Samarinda, the capital of East Kalimantan Province, on Tuesday.

The special committee will stay focused on its tasks and functions pertaining to the relocation of the capital city, including performing their duties optimally despite the term of office as lawmaker ending soon, she remarked.

To this end, the special committee will also hold a series of meetings with Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Minister of National Development Planning/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Bambang Brodjonegoro, Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya Bakar, and the Indonesian Military and Police.

"We will do these all to obtain inputs concerning the results of the government's study on the plan to move the capital city of Indonesia to East Kalimantan. We will bring the results (of our meetings) to the second level of meeting during the plenary session on September 30, 2019," Hetifah stated.

DPR members from the East Kalimantan constituency that are part of the special committee comprise Hetifah Sjaifudian of the Golkar Party faction and Budi Satrio Djiwandono of the Greater Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party faction.

By and large, the special committee has 30 members.
