This was initiated by Indonesia’s representative to China along with the China National Agriculture Wholesale Market Association (CAWA) as a creative strategy on bird’s nest marketing.Tangerang (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s representatives in China promoted edible bird’s nest through a cooking competition organized during the international exhibition of export products, Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2019, at ICE BSD in Tangerang, Banten.
“This was initiated by Indonesia’s representative to China along with the China National Agriculture Wholesale Market Association (CAWA) as a creative strategy for marketing bird’s nest,” Indonesia Trade Attaché for China Marina Novira stated on Thursday.
Chinese people mostly prepare soup from edible bird’s nest when, in fact, a variety of dishes can be cooked from it, she noted.
“By holding this cooking competition, we encourage the participants to create an array of meals from bird’s nest aimed at educating Chinese buyers,” Novira stated.
This bird’s nest cooking competition is the second to be held after the same event during last year’s TEI.
“We had held a similar event last year. It was like a ‘trial attempt’, but the people were interested, so we held another event this year. We pursue to hold such an event annually,” she stated.
This event will also edify Chinese buyers on the nutritional content of edible bird’s nest, according to General Director of National Export Development of the Ministry of Trade Dody Edward.
“Edible bird’s nest is considered as a healthy meal since its nutritious and good for the body,” Edward stated.
