Nakayama is scheduled to arrive in Jakarta on Saturday for a three-day visit until Oct 21, the embassy noted in a written statement released on Saturday.
He will represent the Japanese government and people at the Jokowi-Ma'ruf inauguration, the embassy stated.
Indonesia and Japan had established diplomatic relations in 1958 following the inking of a peace agreement between the two states.
The bilateral relations between Indonesia and Japan cover several sectors, including investment, trade, tourism, and culture.
The Japanese government also has several representative offices, including the Japanese embassy in Jakarta and consulates general in Medan, Surabaya, Denpasar, and Makassar.
In 2017, the Japanese prime minister had paid a visit to Indonesia where he discussed several areas of cooperation with President Widodo. The duo discussed a cooperation agreement in the context of Two Plus Two (2+2) between the foreign ministers and defense ministers of both nations realized in the same year.
The two leaders also discussed opening access of Indonesian agricultural and fishery products to the Japanese market, a general review of the Indonesia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement, a plan to boost air connectivity through the opening of a trade route, and ways to deepen economic cooperation, including a plan to develop Patimban Port, and Jakarta-Surabaya railway line.
