The temperature is extremely hot now. I feel as if my skin is burnt. Anyway, I need sunlight to take pictures
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Many Jakarta residents have complained about the recent temperature reaching up to 37 degrees Celsius, prompting them to reduce their outdoor activities. "It is too hot. It reached up to 37 degrees Celsius and went viral on social media yesterday. But how does one carry out outdoor activities that cannot be avoided?" Delicia, a Jakarta resident, said at Banteng Square in Central Jakarta Tuesday.

Another Jakarta resident, Anton who works as a wildlife photographer also felt the hot temperature in the capital since Monday, October 21.

"The temperature is extremely hot now. I feel as if my skin is burnt. Anyway, I need sunlight to take pictures," he said.

Melissa also felt the heat in the capital in the past two days.

"It is too hot. When I was about to wipe my face with a wet tissue, the wet tissue turned warm. I also brought cold drinking water but when I took it out for a while it immediately turned hot," she said.

The hot temperature affected not only Jakarta but also the rest of Java Island and West and East Nusa Tenggara Provinces, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said earlier.

The hot temperature was a result of the movement of the sun which since September had moved through the equator to the southern hemisphere.

"The condition makes the sunrays received by the earth in the region relatively larger, thus increasing the temperature in the afternoon," BMKG Deputy Head for Meteorology Mulyono Prabowo said.

The BMKG suggested to the public that they drink a lot of water to avoid dehydration and wear clothes protecting their body from the heat while conducting outdoor activities.
