Jakarta (ANTARA) - In a meeting with the leaders of Singapore’s Parliament, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) presented the results of the annual meeting between him and Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

"Mr President said that the two leaders are committed to strengthening cooperation in the fields of investment, infrastructure development, human resource development and the economy," Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi told a press conference at the President's Office, in Jakarta Wednesday.

The cooperation plan also needed support at the legislative level, according to Retno.

The cooperation between the youth of the two countries needs to be improved, Retno explained.

"In the midst of a world of uncertainty, the President said that it was more important for Indonesia to cooperate with Singapore for economic cooperation because ASEAN had good hopes," Retno said in his statement at the meeting.

The Singapore Parliament is led by its Speaker Tan Chuan-Jin.

Singapore lawmakers who participated in the discussion were Joan Pereira, Low Thia Khiang, Gan Thiam Poh, Henry Kwek, Saktiandi Supaat, and Murali Pillai.

Besides, Singapore's Ambassador to Indonesia Anil Kumar Nayar, along with Singapore's Deputy Ambassador to Indonesia Jonathan Han also accompanied the Singapore lawmakers.

President Jokowi was accompanied by Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung.
