Beijing (ANTARA) - Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto concluded his four-day working visit to China by paying a courtesy call on Deputy Chief of China's Central Military Commission (CMC) General Xu Qiliang on Wednesday.

At the meeting held at the People's Liberation Army Headquarters in Beijing, Prabowo expressed keenness to deepen friendly relations with China.

"Of course, (friendly relationship) in the fields of defense and military. This is realized by strengthening dialog and cooperation between the two sides (particularly) to maintain regional peace and stability," Indonesian Ambassador to China Djauhari Oratmangun, accompanying Prabowo during the short visit, stated.

Qiliang remarked that the comprehensive strategic partnership between China, under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, and Indonesia, under the leadership of President Joko Widodo, has shown rapid development.

Defense and military cooperation is an essential part of the relations between both nations, he remarked.

Hence, he expressed hope that pragmatic cooperation between the two sides, particularly if linked to the commemoration of seven decades of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and China in 2020, would increase further.

During the meeting, Prabowo was also accompanied by Defense Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing Brigadier General Kuat Budiman and members of the Indonesian delegation, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and Suryo Prabowo.

In China, the Indonesian delegation comprising officials of the Defense Ministry and the National Defense Forces (TNI) Headquarters also visited several strategic industries in Beijing as part of the efforts to deepen the meeting between Prabowo and China's National Defense Minister General Wei Fenghe and Deputy Director General of National Institution for Defense Sciences, Technology and Industry Xu Zhanbin on Monday (Dec 16).
