The Japanese Foreign Minister sees the Jakarta MRT as a flagship project of the model of cooperation between the Japanese government and the Indonesian government
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta MRT transportation has become the best or the flagship project of the cooperation between Japan and Indonesia, Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi has said. "The Japanese Foreign Minister sees the Jakarta MRT as a flagship project of the model of cooperation between the Japanese government and the Indonesian government," PT MRT Jakarta Director William Sabandar said in Jakarta on Friday.

Motegi said that he was very satisfied with the rapid development of the Jakarta MRT such as the number of passengers that exceeded the target and the MRT's great contribution in changing the culture of Indonesian society, Sabandar added.

Motegi visited and reviewed the MRT transportation mode on Friday, January 10. His arrival was welcomed by Sabandar and Chief Representative of JICA’s Indonesia office, Yamanaka Shinichi, at the Hotel Indonesia MRT Station.

The Japanese Foreign Minister then reviewed the MRT station and briefly listened to explanations of Jakarta's MRT and its stations. He then had the opportunity to try the Jakarta MRT from the Hotel Indonesia MRT Station to the ASEAN Secretariat MRT Station.

Motegi was also accompanied by the Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia Masafumi Ishii and the Japanese Ambassador to ASEAN Akira Chiba.

President Joko Widodo earlier received Motegi at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.

The Japanese Foreign Minister will pay a lot of attention to economic diplomacy. Japan is one of Indonesia's main partners, Jokowi stated.

Jokowi also conveyed some of Indonesia's priorities related to Japan, especially in the investment sector.
