There will be at least two people hired in each (Burger King) outlet
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Ministry of Social Affairs and Jakarta-based PT Sari Burger Indonesia, which operates Burger King in Indonesia, have inked a commitment that the fast-food chain will employ people with disabilities to integrate them in society. Following the partnership, the ministry will train and help recruit the group before they are accepted as employees. "There will be at least two people hired in each (Burger King) outlet," the ministry's Director General of Social Rehabilitation, Edi Suharto, said in a statement received in Jakarta, Wednesday.

The partnership is part of the ministry's social rehabilitation New Platform program, Suharto explained.

Apart from integrating the minority group into the community, the program also aims to rehabilitate other stigmatized groups such as former drug users, victims of human trafficking, and former sex workers.

"The grand design (of the program) is to get people back into society," he reaffirmed.

By signing the partnership, Suharto expected it to provide more job opportunities to people with disabilities so it can increase their well-being.

As per Law No. 8 for the Year 2016 on People with Disabilities, the Indonesian government has instructed public offices and private sector to allocate one percent quota for people with disabilities during the recruitment, Suharto explained.
